Tea Towels |

Mum was a member of the Starship Foundations Friends of Starship volunteer committee for a number of years before I was sick. Even when I was ill, I was keen to help give back to the charities supporting us and Mum and I talked about ways to raise money. As I was having chemo treatment, it needed to be something simple. We decided on producing a tea towel with my own design screen printed on it. Everyone needs a tea towel, right ?
Mum, my sister Noon and I rolled each tea towel up individually and tied them with an orange ribbon then sold them for $10 each to friends and family. Everyone helped spread the word and with sales through local cafes, Pasta Italia and Benson Rd Deli we soon sold out. After costs, we could give $6 from each tea towel to My Causes.
In 2009, I teamed up with NZ family owned quality linen specialists, Wallace Cotton, and they took over production of my tea towel. I included a recipe with my design and Paula Wallace arranged for it to be printed onto a good quality cotton tea towel in full colour! So cool. Through Wallace Cottons website, mail order catelogue and stores, sales have been amazing. Its so exciting to be able to raise money to help kids get better stuff at Starship.
